Saraland Administration Prepares for the Opening of Early Education Center
SARALAND, AL (November 17, 2016) -- Saraland City Schools is pleased to announce that Kimberly Williams, current assistant principal at Saraland Elementary School, will be the principal of the new Early Education Center scheduled to open in January 2017 for early grade students.
Williams has served as assistant principal of Saraland Elementary School for the past two years. She will begin working in her principal role while still at the elementary school campus and will transition fully when the Early Education Center opens for students.
“I am excited to work with Saraland’s kindergarten and first grade teachers and students,” Williams said. “The teachers are an outstanding group of educators who are committed to the success of each child. Our kindergarten and first grade students are ready and willing to learn – there is no limit on what they can accomplish!”
Williams grew up in the area and attended Auburn University, earning a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She has a master’s degree from the University of South Alabama in early childhood education and is working on a doctoral degree in education leadership to be completed in May 2017. Williams joined Saraland Elementary School in 1999. She is married to Keith Williams and has two daughters, one at Auburn University and one at Saraland Middle School.
“Early in my career, I was given opportunities to take on various leadership roles,” Williams said. “The knowledge and experience I gained throughout my educational journey have prepared me for this next step in my career.”
The Early Education Center is a 65,750 square foot facility being constructed on Celeste Road. The facility will house pre-school, kindergarten, and first grade students in 29 classrooms.
Dr. Aaron Milner, Superintendent, expressed personal appreciation for Mrs. Williams. “Saraland City Schools is fortunate to have someone of Mrs. Williams’ caliber leading the opening of the Saraland Early Education Center. Our parents are thankful that the principal will have already established a positive relationship with the inaugural class of students. In addition, Mrs. Williams’ knowledge of curriculum will lead to a tremendous jump start for the kindergarten and first grade students attending the Saraland Early Education Center.”
“We have the opportunity to create a safe, fun learning environment that will result in a solid educational foundation for students,” Williams said. “It will be a place where our little Spartans can develop a love for learning, and their families can be actively involved in their education.”
An information meeting concerning the transitioning of kindergarten and 1st grade students to the Saraland Early Education Center will be held at 6:30pm on Thursday, November 17th at Saraland Elementary School.
